New Installation Statement

I've set painting aside for a while to focus on this new "installation." I have used appropriated images, handmade gifts, and found objects to deconstruct the idea of expectant parent as consumer. Although this critique calls into question our society's need to spend money to welcome a child into the world (all she really will need is breast milk) it simultaneously celebrates, through materials chosen with care, the love that we can express through our purchasing choices. Hopefully in the next week we will welcome the living component to this artwork that will mark its completion.
